Textile artist, teacher and author Sarah Ann Smith of Hope, Maine, USA enjoys regular walks with the family pug. The milkweeds in her area are the inspiration for Milkweed No 2:
The milkweed seedpod encompasses the passage of time from growth to decay to rebirth through the seeds, borne on wisps of silk and the slightest breath of air, to where they will land and begin the cycle anew in the coming spring… every autumn, I am again enchanted as these tiny parachutes waft into and out of my world.
See the entire artwork and read about how Sarah created it in her blog posts: Part 1 and Part 2.
Sarah has designed a range of thermofax screens available from Fiber on a Whim! and invites you to come and play in her classes at Quilt Festival in Houston this coming autumn.
