just a moment with Alvena Hall

Spend just a moment with Alvena Hall, an embroiderer from West Lakes, South Australia who works by hand, machine, and digital stitch. The Ediacara Hills and other sites in the dramatic landscapes of the Flinders Ranges have inspired the Alvena’s work for over a decade. It is miraculously rare for anything as soft and delicate as a 540-million-year-old sea-frond to have its impression preserved, then discovered. Here’s a glimpse of Arboreus in Kankana.

In Art Quilt Australia 2015, Alvena was awarded the Ozquilt Network Newsletter 25th Anniversary Award of Excellence for Aboreus: Edicara Suite 2015.
